ABOUT US
The Greater Carolinian Union is a micronation founded in early 2025 as a political protest for improved LGBT protections. We are dedicated to advocating for equal rights and social justice. Our mission is to create a more inclusive and accepting society for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. All Sophonts deserve dignity.
Founded in February 2025, the Greater Carolinian Union is a hybrid direct-representative democracy, operating with a tricameral government, and led by the Triumvirate and Union Council. We enshrine the rights to food, water, and shelter in our constitution, as well as LGBTQ+ and Women's rights.
We formed due to the United States government failing utterly to protect the LGBT citizens of it's territory, as a political protest. The use of micronations as protests has precedent since 2004, with the Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands, in Australia.
